Sugar AllergyModerator: BioTeam Myth Number 3: Some people are allergic to sugar.
Fact: A condition is called a food allergy when the immune system (the part of the body that fights infections) thinks a certain protein in a food is a "foreign" agent and fights against it. This doesn't happen with sugars and fats.

Allergic to SugerI have a terrible Reaction when I have to much suger from cake or pop drinking or sweets. It is like my nervous system gets a shock all over every few minutes sometimes my ears even pop lasting up to 3 days or so. Usually I work it off Im not a diabetic I am allergic to surger to much and I have this terrible reaction. I cant believe I have this reaction. It started about 5 years ago I useed to drink alot of Pop about 4 liter's a dayafter I quit smoking but I only drink about 32 oz a day now if that much It is when I add cake or some other sweets to my diet that this reaction occurs. It is a terrible feeling to have.
Sugar allergyi'm new 'round here . . . just thought i'd type in sugar allergy and see what popped up, so here i am. I've always had a terrible reaction to eating "sugar" . . . a rush, shaky, heart arrythymia, headache, etc.
even when eating bananas or other fruit at times. I've tried to explain this to several "medical doctors" who just look at me like I just rolled of the last fruit truck. . . basically, if medical science can't explain it, it's just a case of the "fruitcake" syndrome, right? that's all[/list]

I am allergic to SUGARWhen I eat anything with 'sugar' on the ingredient list, well I start to itch, skin goes red, hives cover my stomach and if I ignore it and eat more, hives, reddness and swelling down the legs, butt, and ignore it more... my lungs begin to fail... it is sugar that is the culprit! No doubt about it. When I am pregnant it gets even more severe!
Sugar AllergyEverything a person eats has sugar in it, including a minute amount in lettuce. Sugar comes from the ground and adds itself to all plant life. Flour, vegetables, fruit, etc. has sugar in them. Look at a canister of salt. On the label, it indicates sugar in it.
Your liver automatically makes and stores sugar within it and raises it as necessary. Sugar free is not really sugar free, due to other products that have been added to make up whatever food (cookies, pies, cakes, ice cream, candy, etc). They usually use sugar alcohol, but again, the flour has natural sugar within it. That's why if it has carbs on the label, it has sugar in it. Granted there are different sugars out there.
sugar allergyI do know I have a sensitivity to refined white sugar. When I eat a dessert, such as cake, I feel stoned. I get stomache cramps then diarrhea. If I eat too much refined sugar I feel nauseated and dizzy. When I was younger, I would throw up. Although, I can eat natural sugars like honey and I am fine. For now I am not diabetic but who knows, in time that may change I have a nephew who has the same problem.
