Cellular Respiration

I have to write a one to two page paper for extra credit in my intro to biology college course that follows the flow of energy from the sun all the way to ATPs in brain neurons or muscle cells. I have the basic layout of how it works.

sun --> light (photons) --> photosynthesis --> glucose (we ingest food molecules then turn them into monosaccharides) --> cell --> respiration --> ATPs

What I diagrammed above is how he explained it works, so I need to work off of that. It needs to be in as much detial as possible and I am allowed to use formulas such as photosynthesis and respirations, but I will have to explain them.

I will tell you what I know so you can see where I need help. :]

I know that the sun shines on the plants where photons are stored in the chloroplasts where photosynthesis occurs and produces glucose-6-phosphate. Humans ingest green plants such as spinach or lettuce. What I don't know is how we process glucose or how it enters the cell. I know how cellular respiration works, thus how ATPs are produced.

from photosynthesis is produced sucrose further transformed into starch. This is hydrolysed by saliva and enzymes in stomach into oligo- and monosaccharides. These are uptaken by glucose transporters and immediately phosphorylased so that it is not released back to blood.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

Sounds like a fun topic to write about, and a lot could be said about what you're asking. Instead of telling you all the details use both formulas (photosynthesis and cellular respiration). From just these two formulas you can connect the complete process down to the coenzymes, and electron transport chain.

6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy ----> C6H12O6 + 6O2

Cellular Respiration: (Same as photosynthesis, just in reverse order)
C6H12O6 + 6O2 ----> 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy

Also a tip, remove the 6 in front of each molecule, which results in the reduction or oxidation of one of the molecules of life, a carbohydrate (CH2O)

If you're interested, I made a couple outlines to help me study for an essay test, which covered these two processes. I
