insulin receptor substrate (IRS)

Is anybody familiar with the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) pathway. I am trying to figure out what the IRS compares to in the G-protein coupled receptor pathway. Also what the effectors are. I understand the basics of the pathway, but am confused of the labels.

doesn't insulin use the G-protein pathway?
