How to study and master biology better.

I am having troubles with bio. My problem is, I don't know how to study the material correctly and I don't quite understand the concept sometimes. English isn't my first language which make things a bit difficult. I am taking Genetics right now, and I failed the first exam. It's been like this in all the bio classes I have taken so far in college. I am a bio major also. last year in microbiology I was having the same problem but to pass the class with a b which is decent but not great. I need advices on how to study better and be organized. There is also the fact that when I study it just doesn't stick for some reason. I can't focus for some reason. I only took one bio class in high school, I have freshmen in my genetic class and this is just reviews for them.

It's different for different people. Have you tried finding internet sources that fit how you learn? There are many, from YouTube to the Khan Academy.
