Western BlotHello Forum,
please have a look at this image http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/98/0bigg.jpg/ There are two proteins A and B in the right column. Marker B is the protein´s length of healthy people. But as you can see there are two different markers for this protein (the western Blot was made for one patient). How can you explain the appearance of two different markers in one patient? Can you explain with examples how changes of genes can lead to this result?
Re: Western BlotThank you.
What is about mutations, such as nonsense-mutation? Marker B refers to the protein Enolase. Considering heterozygothy is it right to say that the patient inherited the genes. One of his parents has the "healthy" gene and the other not and, therefore, both are expressed (co-dominant expression).
Re: Western Blot
Not sure, what means nonsense mutation, but if you have introduced premature STOP, then you would get shorter protein, of course.
Yes http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: Western Blot
Nonsense mutation is the premature stop of the translation due to point mutation, leading to a stop codon. Thus results in the formation of non-functional protein product. I am little bit confused. Are you searching for answers or asking us to clarify our understanding Saumyadip Sarkar

<splice the greatmicrobiologist>a point mutation which turns a codon from any of the others into one of the three possible stop codons. This causes

well, it may still function, many do as they have lots of crap in them they dont need.
I think she wants you.
