What type of dna is needed in order to clone an animal?

Hello everyone, this is the first time i use a forum, and i don't know quite well how it works.
The reason i came here is because i have a question related to biology. I was wondering where exactly do they get the dna from, in order to successfully clone a human or animal. Also is it a quick process to exctract and store the dna from the donor?
Please explain the process.

I think that usually is transfered whole nucleus from some somatic cell into new denucleated egg cell

Not only that. There is an unexplained difference in the difficulty of "stripping" differentiation characteristics from the somatic nuclei of different species. For example, it's easier to work with cats than dogs...
