Plant & animal cell - sucrose & glucoseHello guys
Got a question I need some help with, I'm studying for my exams and one of my "trial-questions" is: "Compare the uptake of glucose into an animal cell and sucrose into a plant cell: explain the fundamental similarities and differences." So, this questions is taking me forever to answer 'cause there is a lot of things to say about it. But if you could help me with what you think is most important to name, that'll be a huge life and timesaver.
This is nice that you are asking for some short-cut! lol
the main point to explain and think is "glucose" is Monosaccharide and "sucrose" is disaccharide. so sucrose surely will take lots of time to break the glycosidic linkage between glucose and fructose. So whether it is a plant or animal, glucose uptake will be much faster than in the case of sucrose. Now it will be easier for me too to validate my answer. Lets see what others have to say about this. Saumyadip Sarkar
