Mildew (Mold) grow tank

Postby Moldkiller » Sun Aug 07, 2011 12:11 pm

Hello everyone. I need to design a tank that I can test fabrics for resistance to Mildew. I have seen them in some labs in companies I have worked with. Can anyone give me a recommendation on how to design one and what kind of common molds it should contain? Previous ones I have seen were made simply out of plastic tubs.

Look up "Petrocci and Clark"

How do you plan to validate?

What a silly site. Mildews ARE molds and both are casual terms for fungi - one in context of an environment and observation and the other to general morphology. The former refers generally to obvious mold growth usually on household surfaces - most commonly in reference to such observations in bathrooms. Mildew is also a technical term for certain fungal plant diseases - downy and powdery mildews. Mold refers to fungal growth in the mycelial morphology - and mildew is typically observed in that morphology.

It is the silly website of "mildewvsmold" (likely aka sivarin) and a classic example of misinformation on the net. Totally ignorant of mycology, it pompously and incorrectly claims mildews to be distinct from molds, as though either term had specific taxonomic meaning. Both refer to mycelial fungi and mildews are molds growing on/deteriorating surface of importance to man. It does go on with additionally bad science.

It is unfortunate that folks reading this website (esp by reference here) will be so badly misinformed.
