local versus whole body infections..

Postby srgama » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:47 pm

I am trying to understand what makes some infections local versus some whole body. Any details and references for more information would be deeply appreciated.

most if not all infections start out as local infections. they only become systemic if the pathogen that is causing the local infection enters the blood or the lymphoid system and then spreads.

Some microbes grow better at lower temperatures encountered on the surface of the body.
