What happens to free phosphates after DNA elongation in PCR?When Taq Polymerase adds free nucleotides to the 3' OH end of template DNA, 2 of the 3 phosphates of the nucleotide are removed (creating the energy necessary to form the phosphodiester bond that attaches the remaining phosphate group to the growing chain). What happens to those 2 phosphates that are removed? How does this effect the other molecules in the PCR solution?
