Why do antibiotics cause cell death with lipofectamine

I understand the presence of antibiotics in media will lead to cell death when you use lipofectamine, but I have not been able to find a mechanism. I have heard that it is related to an increase in cell membrane permeability that leads to antibiotics getting into the cells causing cell death . But I have not seen any papers that support this? Do other methods of enhancing cell membrane permeability also lead to cell death in the presence of antibiotics?
