Book recommendations & advice on a career in biologyHello,
I'm currently in high school and thinking of going into biology when I start attending university next year (woo-hoo!). Do you guys have any recommendations for books? Especially anything in ornithology or genetics would be superb. Advice on a career in biology would also be appreciated. I plan on getting at least a Master's degree before exiting school. Will I need to get a PhD? Also, would it be possible for me to get a Bachelor's in math with a minor in biology and then apply for a Master's in biology? If not, how hard is it to get a dual degree? Is that a good idea? How much math will I be learning and using with a biology degree? What things should I be considering as I decide what field of study to enter (both in biology and careers in general)? Thank you very much!
Re: Book recommendations & advice on a career in biologyIf you chart a course to the dual degree carefully, you can apply many electives to both degrees. I graduated with BS Bio and BA Chem using that strategy. Having the broad background was very useful in grad school and since.
I like the book "Coming to Life" by Nusslein-Volhard (molecular developmental biology). Good luck!
Re: Book recommendations & advice on a career in biologyYes, Career in biology are good option for secure future present in biology area you can choose many more spacific field on it like biotechnology, bioengineering, Aerobiology, Algology, Allelopathy, Aminopeptidases, Anatomy, Astrobiology, Autecology, Bacteriology, Bionics and Botany
I like the books 1. What Can You Do with a Major in Biology: Real people. Real jobs. Real rewards. Author Bart Astor ![]() 2.Great Jobs for Biology Majors by Blythe Camenson 3.Academia to Biotechnology Career Changes at any Stage by Jeffrey M. Gimble
