Graduate Program Advice?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I was hoping to get some advice. I'm currently a junior in college, majoring in psychology and minoring in biology. I'm starting to look at graduate programs but I'm not exactly sure what I want to do. I'm interested in animal science - specifically behavior. I find research on cognitive abilities of animals very interesting, as well as studies pertaining to their behavior in the wild (social relationships, hunting groups, etc.). I'm primarily interested in marine species, but I find other species interesting as well. I feel like research in this area is probably hard to get into so I want to make sure I choose a graduate study that corresponds very well. So far I've come up with:

- Animal Behavior (although very few places offer this and I'm not sure it could be applied anywhere else if the career choice I have in mind didn't work out)
- Behavioral Neuroscience (I don't know a whole lot about, I'm taking a cognitive neuroscience course next year - but I've read that some people who study animal behavior do this as a graduate program)
- Zoology

Any other ideas or reasons why one choice might be better than others? Thanks for your help! It's very appreciated.

Get into the literature and see what's being done. Not only might this clear up your issue, it will probably give you candidate labs / grad schools to apply to.
