Sperm can smell where the ovum is?

Postby livepool » Wed Apr 13, 2011 10:50 pm

I read that sperm can smell where the ovum is through molecular receptors but what is that called? What is the process and what is the receptor called?

I have no idea what the receptor or the specific chemicals used are called, but the process is known as chemokinesis and the collective name for the signalling molecules are chemokines.
