veggie or fruit

what is the difference exactly between a veggie and a fruit? I'm starting to doubt my school system for giving out truthfull information. They said it depended on if it had seeds or not, but that just dosn't make sense to me.

That is absurd. The tomato is generally called a veggie and it is actually a fruit. It is basically if you want to study them or cook them. Do a forum search, we have the exact same topic discussed

Fruits are mature ovaries of plants....any mature ovary of a plant. all sqash, cucumber, pumkin, tomato, anything with seeds are fruits!!!. Veggies, check up on this, can be leaves of plants or other plant accessories. then there are the bulbs..garlic, onion. rhizomes (underground lateral branches)...ginger. tubers.. (potatoes) and roots...Carrots (definately a veggie) hope that helps u out

The banana that you buy at the market is triploid, so it does not have the capacity to reproduce by seeds. It only reproduces vegetatively. i should know, i have a banana tree in my front yard :wink:
