Taxonomy - Populus trichocarpaI am setting up a table for a report that contains the phylum and class of the organisms therein. I am having problems identifying the class of a few of the organisms in the table. I have been using the taxonomy browser at NCBI to get my information, and typically the website provides the full lineage of the species with the rank of each taxon available through hyperlinks. However, the divisions are not ranked for Populus trichocarpa and a few others. Streptophyta is identified as a phylum, but I'm not sure which corresponds to the class.
Here's the NCBI output: cellular organisms; Eukaryota; Viridiplantae; Streptophyta; Streptophytina; Embryophyta; Tracheophyta; Euphyllophyta; Spermatophyta; Magnoliophyta; eudicotyledons; core eudicotyledons; rosids; fabids; Malpighiales; Salicaceae; Saliceae; Populus Additionally, does anyone know of an online database where I can access more complete taxonomy information?
I am not of much help, but I have the feeling that this thread would be better off in the botany forum... Hop

I would recommend BioLib
http://www.biolib.cz/en/taxon/id38961/ the texts in English are rather scarce, but the system should be fine http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
