homologous recominationI'm studying "homologous recomination" but I cannot understand its mechanism clearly.Can you help me?Thank you for your reply

hetero/homoheterozygote=different alleles of one or more specific genes. It will produce UNLIKE gametes and thus will NOT breed true. homozygote=true breeding oranizm because the alleles for a particular characteristic on each chromosome are identical, therefore produce the same phenotypical result. I'm trying to figure out the geneology of my horses. I've gotten the color genes pretty much figured out. In researching this info, I read that, I think it was pure white color?, can only be homozygote because if it was heterozygote it would be lethal to the embryo....or visaversa. Can anyone explain that one to me Thank you, Bambi

Maybe, but as i said, it is highly improbable. Since you gotta think that the color only codes for an enzyme that encreases or decreases the secretion of MSH, resulting in more or less melanine...
