Help with the Heart!!I have three questions that I can not seem to locate the answers to:
1) The sum of the forces that the ventricle must contract against to make blood flow forward would be...? 2) Elasticity and contractility are properties of: veins, capillaries, venules, arteries, or the coronary sinus? 3) The myocardium does not contain which of the following: intercalated discs, conduction (Purkinje) fibers, sarcomeres, visceral pericardium, trabeculae carne I am pulling my hair out with these three. I will try to get the multiple choice options for the first question, but if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it
1) Haven't a clue. At all. =[
2) This question is easily answered if you think about the roles of each of the blood vessels mentioned. Ask yourself: i. does it have to deal with a large amount of pressure? Would elasticity be beneficial for this or not? Why? ii. why could a vessel need to contract? (think about blood vessels that arent always in use, or why contraction might be neccessary?) which vessels need this ability? 3) It's been a while since I did the heart, and my memory is terrible, so I cannot actually tell you the answer for this one. If you find a decent figure of cardiac muscle on the web or in a text book, you should be able to find the odd one out I would guess. Hope you get your answers.
