Jewish success due to behavior modificationI read Cochran, G., J. Hardy, and H. Harpending. 2006. 'Natural history of Ashkenazi intelligence.' Journal of Biosocial Science 38:659-693. doi:
I suspect the reason is the following. The genetic cohesion of European Jews is due to initial cultural cohesion. A case study can be made with the practice of Judaism and Telmud from 1000 A.D to now: The practice of Jewish rituals explicated, and dictated required a set of behavioral modification. The emphasize on studying the Talmud each day require lowering impulsiveness, and aggression. Both traits are highly heritable, and socially valued. What is the selection? It is bottleneck effect( special case of the founder effect). In this case, the people who are highly aggressive, and impulsive would not study the Talmud each day. They are exorcise from their peer group, and joining the surrounding non-Jewish community, or that their lower social status result in lowering futility rate over time. I want suggestions.
