Washed up on the beach, What is this?Hey guys, I'm new here so be gentle..
I have no clue what this is.. my sister found this, it washed up on the beach in the Gold Coast of Australia, after prodding it a little bit we concluded it reacted to touch.. Its obviously upside-down. Turning it over, at the time, seemed too herculean... and icky.. I'm thinking a nudibranch or something? Thanks for any help!
It is a Glaucus atlanticus or the close relative Glaucilla marginata. It's quite normal for it to be upside down as that is how they float around in the ocean. Beautiful creature. Good thing you didn't start handling it. They sting.
A belief that is held in carefully nurtured ignorance of the alternative is hardly a belief to be taken seriously. -Richard Dawkins
