glucokinase vs hexokinase

Postby nickname » Tue Nov 23, 2010 3:13 am

I have to say if the following are describing glucokinase, hexokinase, or both. I have answered them (don't know if they are correct) and I'm unsure about some of them.

Any help will be appreciated it.

a) present in tissues that are less dependent on glucose for energy---> hexokinase

b) prevents cells from entensively phosphorylating glucose when blood glucose concentration is less than 2.5mM--->glucokinase

c) ensures that glucose generated by gluconeogenesis is not used for glycolysis in the same organ---> both

d) is half saturated at much lower conc (0.1mM) than is its isoenzyme---> hexokinase

e) undefine---> hexokinase

g) not sensitive to inhibition by glucose-6-phosphate ---> glucokinase

h) enables liver to buffer blood glucose concentration ---> glucokinase

are these correct?

a) probably

b) a contre (look at velocity and K_M of both enzymes)

c) the one, which is not expressed in liver (not sure, which one is it, but I think glucokinase)

d) did you look at their properties or just randomly picking answers?

e) ?

g)

h) the one working at higher concentrations

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

interesting, that you didn't have any comments and anything... based on your answers it doesn't seem that you did study a lot...
