Verify my simple t/f answers?

1) Every protein has ammonia end. (True)
2) Osmosis requires no energy. (True)
3) Diffusion is the movement of solute only through selectively permeable membrane. (True)
4) Lipids have acidic end COOH. (True)

Let me know if any of my answers are wrong and that they should be false instead.

1) It's not an ammonia end, it's an amine end, so it's false.
2) True because it's passive diffusion of water, therefore no energy is used.
3) False. Example where you don't use a selectively permeable membrane: You have a glass of water and you place a coloured dye to one corner of the glass via eye dropper, then after some dye has been transported into the water, you can see the diffusion of the dye moving from HIGH CONCENTRATION to LOW CONCENTRATION.
4) True. Neutral fats contain COOH at the end of their chain.



Edit: By the way, did you even bother studying the text? These questions have obvious answers if you were to actually review your notes.

Deffinitelly not! He was asking about lipids, not carboxylic acids and lipids has no free carboxyl group.

Obviously, he just put true behind everything to "show his work" and didn't care much and you gave him all the correct answers...

Sure, you disregard it, because than you would be a fool asking for help with very simple questions. But you didn't show much trying to answer these questions.

Definitely so! Neutral fats are part of the lipid family, just as well as steroids and triglycerides.

what's your definition of neutral fat? Mine is the same as in here's dictionary (which is the first link on Google:)

Omg, wow, that was really stupid of me... neutral fats are formed when the COOH of a fatty acid dehydration synthesizes with the OH group in the glycerol. I just got FA mixed with tri. =[. Thanks for the catch!
