Halophilic bacteria growth

How at the cellular level does salt concen affect halophilic bacterial growth?

I've come up with only a little bit, but I need more ...
- at optimum the Na+ ions make the cell membrane stronger and increase Na+ depend. active transport and movement--> increased division?
- higher---->> weakens the cell membrane --> ??
-lower---->> not enough for the Na+ -dependent transport---> decreased cell division
- at high/low [] the water availability causes the cell to crenate/lyase?
What else can I add?
