Well, If you talking about drugs that are used in surgery maybe I'll think like this. There are 3 types of drugs which are depresant, halutinogen and stimulant. IMMSMR, depresant is often used in surgery with certain dosage to make the nervous kinda 'not functioning' for a while...
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.

Hi,

I am not a specialist, but are you not talking about "curar-like" drugs?
Curar is a poison that blocks the muscles (i don't know exactly how on the top of my head) and some drugs that have the same effects are used in surgery to paralyse the patient.
