antimicrobial susceptibility disk dispensersWe use Remel dispensers, and we have been using the Remel disk refills, however, it is getting harder and harder to find some of the specific antibiotics that we use. So, I found out that BBL also makes a dispenser and disks - and they offer a wider variety of antibiotics at lower prices. Does anyone know if the Remel dispensers will work w/ BBL disks? I called the BBL distributor to ask, but I'm not sure that anyone on the planet could be less helpful or more rude (I wouldn't do business w/ such a jerk if money weren't a factor).
Thanks for any insight! Patty
I seem to remember that we could use some oxoid disks with our BBL dispenser that we had in a previous lab (life?). Two solutions:
- Buy one cartridge of the BBL disks and see if it works. This is would be only a loss of a few dollars. Or of a few minutes, if you are ready to apply the disks by hand - ask the remel/oxoid rep if their machine will accept the BBL cartridges. They might be more helpful than BBL. Or to avoid all conflict of interest ask a company that sell both (VWR in Canada distribute both oxoid/remel and BBL), the sales rep should know or be able to answer. Patrick
