We need to find a University that will write a grant and research this. Going to a horrible dictator will not help. Try if you must but he has done nothing to help his own people medically.

And also it has never been "another story" just cuz someone has lost something. It has always been the same story for me and the ones I love. It has always been serious to me.

from what I just read from south, maybe a letter to some of the casino hotels in vegas telling them to brace themselves for this might be very effective.

unless I read that post wrong

Sorry south, hope your girlfriend is ok.

This is hard for me to understand but I do think it is just what Tam was speaking of. If you scroll about 1/2 down thru the article you will see the cyanobacteria.....

I found it by googling around with the words: cilates; protozoan, etc.,

Pathogenic and symbiotic microbes should be described not only on the basis of individual cells but also on the population level and their interactions with other organisms in the respective ecosystems. The interplay of pathogenic as well as symbiotic organisms with other microorganisms, for instance by quorum sensing, might have a strong impact on their interactions with eukaryotic cells and the final outcome of the 'infection'. Finally, the data currently available indicate a certain prevalence of symbiotic and pathogenic microorganisms in a few systematic groups including the α-, β- and γ-Proteobacteria and, in particular, in the Enterobacteriaceae. Does this reflect a particular versatility of these bacteria to evolve interactions with eukaryotic cells or is the observed 'over-representation' of just a few systematic groups due to the lack of our knowledge about the real biodiversity on earth?

In making application for and "investigative" grant one must have enough evidence to validate at least the need for the research. Media events are not evidence, it is only an indication of a need. Grant proposals which have a possible specific target identified and supporting preliminary data are to be more likely funded. A grant proposal which simply states that, "We want money to find out what is causing what ever this is that everyone is complaining about," won't work. Yes, the NIH traditionally funds major universities, probably because they have the faculty, basic facilities, and a reputation of successful research activities.
It appears that the MRF has established national awareness and is in the process of collecting the needed evidence and data through a major university to support the writing of a successful grant proposal.
