can you help my homework?I have 10 questions to answer and I am running out of time...
1. The park that you visit is home to a colony of ants, a couple of sparrows, a few lizards, millions of bacteria, and a wasps nest. Together all the organisms represent a. a population b. an ecosystem c. a biosphere d. a community e. a species 2. Water is polar and can form hydrogen bonds because of ________. a. transfer of electrons b. unequal sharing of electrons c. its ability to freeze d. its high surface tension bonds 3. The role of a control in an experiment is to a. provide a basis of comparison to the experimental group. b. prove that a hypothesis is correct. c. ensure repeatability. d. prove that a hypothesis is correct and ensure repeatability. e. counteract the negative effect of the experiment. 4. A polypeptide forms a pleated sheet or a helix as its tertiary structure. a. True b. False 5. In which of the following is the correct monomer matched with its polymer? a. fatty acid – DNA b. monosaccharide – lipid c. glycerol – carbohydrate d. amino acid – protein 6. Which statement is correct? a. Starch is a structural polysaccharide b. Chitin is a protein found in insects c. Glycogen is a storage polysaccharide d. Cellulose is a polysaccharide only found in animal cell e. Glucose is a storage polysaccharide 7. Which of the following functional groups is hydrophobic? a. Hydroxyl group b. Carboxyl group c. Carbonyl group d. Amino group e. All of the groups are hydrophilic 8. An experiment is designed to determine if a particular bacteria (SewerBac) is able to more efficiently break down the solid waste in sewage than chemical treatment. Group A contains only 10 gallons of raw sewage. Group B contains 10 gallons of raw sewage with 10 grams of chemical treatment. Group C contains 10 gallons of raw sewage and 10 grams of SewerBac. Hypothesis : SewerBac will more efficiently remove solid waste from raw sewage than chemical treatment. If the hypothesis were rejected, which of the following statements is correct? a. The data showed that more solid waste was present in Group B than Group C at the end of the trial. b. A theory would be accepted that chemical treatment is more favorable than SewerBac c. A theory would be accepted that SewerBac is more favorable than chemical treatment. d. The data showed that more solid waste was present in Group C than Group B at the end of the trial. 9. Which atom would be most likely to form a covalent bond? a. Carbon b. Chlorine c. Sodium d. Calcium 10. Insulin is a protein that is produced by pancreatic cells and secreted into the bloodstream. Which of the following options correctly lists the order of the structures through which insulin passes from its production to its exit from the cell? a. rough ER, transport vesicles, Golgi apparatus, transport vesicles, cell membrane b. rough ER, lysosomes, transport vesicles, cell membrane c. rough ER, Golgi apparatus, smooth ER, cell membrane d. rough ER, transport vesicles, cell membrane e. rough ER, transport vesicles, Golgi apparatus, vacuole, cell membrane
so, you're running out of time, but instead of searching answers for such simple questions (and these are REALLY soooo simple!!!) you ask here and go get some beer and wait until someone answers, huh?
Just look into any basic biology or chemistry book and you will find simply the answers http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: can you help my homework?to you these are easy but to me these aren't .. i'm 18 and i have 2 jobs! im poor and just need help on these because im behind thats all i never ask much more and i am trying tofinish these now... :\

Re:
To answer those questions you certainly need some knowledge in biology and chemistry, so I don't find it surprising at all if someone is having problems with them. Hell, I've studied biology for over ten years and didn't get all of those right at first try :P Anyways, simply listing the questions here hardly gets anyone's homework done, so perhaps the original poster could have at least tried to suggest the correct answer for each question and briefly explain why they ended up with the given answer... edit: typofix Last edited by biohazard on Wed Sep 22, 2010 6:53 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Re:
Well, that was supposed to be my point Anyway, I think that really all these questions can be found in basic bio/chem books (like whether is cellulose animal storage saccharide? Really? Or why is water polar?) http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/

Re: Re:
But of course. I didn't mean the questions were awfully complex or anything, but they cover a fairly borad range of topics from ecosystems to chemistry, so it takes some time to check those from books (even if you think you know the answer you sometimes want to verify it). So if someone really is in a hurry or does not have access to all the required books, that makes the above questionnaire fairly challenging - even though each individual question certainly represents basic concepts in biology. I would say that a person who gets all those right without having to check anything from the books/net has already passed their biology and chemistry 101 with good grades =)
well, s/he has obviously jointed only to ask for that assignment, so registration takes some time, then you have to wait for mail and then write your question and wait for answers. I think going to library and looking into few books would be much more faster
