Poly(A) Signal

Postby pmngrad » Tue Aug 31, 2010 11:49 pm

When a poly(a) signal is placed downstream of a gene sequence wouldn't this cause the termination of transcription before the gene of interest is actually expressed?

how long is the poly(A) signal? Are both genes in frame?

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

Both genes would be in frame - unsure about the exact Poly(a) signal though. I would assume that it would be a AAUAAA or equivalent sequence.

Thanks for your help! :)
