FoodintoleranceWhat exactly causes people to be intolerant to a certain foodtype, for instance citrusfruit? What biological process, in small steps, leads to rapid expellation of bowelcontents after the intolerable substance proceeds from the stomache to the bowel?

I think it has a relationship with vagus nerve. The food, usually with strong taste, will stimulate the vagus nerve to work, i.e. contraction and relaxation (peristaltic movement) of GI tracts.
I myself suffer a lactose hypersensitivity, my doctor told me so. Soon after I drink my milk up, I will get a terrible stomach-ache (queasy) and then I will throw up (sorry). I am not sure about the mechanism, but I think it seems like what I explained above. ![]()
Most asians also do not have the ability to digest milk(lactose). Historically, their diets didnt have dairy products.

I think what he/she means is that he/she does not need enzyme to digest citrusfruit.. Citrus also contains sugars as well, so you still need enzyme to digest it. I think there is none who sensitive for this enzyme
