Ideas of papers about pathways

Postby AlbClus » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:43 am

Dear all,
I'm a computer scientist and I would like to apply a method to biological problem in order to try to rediscover biological results thanks to an mathematical method.
Here is the problem, given a pathway like p53 signaling pathway, we would to avoid to get to the apoptosis by adding chemical substances on the pathway.(like a drug would act).
Finding chemical objects whose reactions with the other chemical object within the pathway will allows us to reach a goal.
Can someone advice me some papers to read in order to improve the method i use with relevant (biological) facts ?
Thank you for your help and understand. I hope I was clear.

Best regards,

you can recognize chemical substances by modeling with enzymes.

Some pathwaysw you can find in biochemistry school books or in appropriate articles. There are also some other ways to look for... but depends on what kind of data you actually want.

Well, I would something about drug design. Given a pathway and a substance to inhibit or to promote, fin a way to do it by adding links in the pathway

and you know that the substance is affecting flux and want to know where is it or you want to search for new substances?

Well, in the end I will know where the substance is and how it's affecting the flux. but i wont know the name of the substance. It's a new substance we can add to the pathway.
It's like enhancing the pathway in order to reach a goal.
Maybe later with probabilistic methods and databases, one would be able to guess the substance.

well, if you want to try just random molecules, you may affect nothing at all or some other pathway. You should be more focused and pick like one enzyme and study it's inhibitor and then try some new compounds. You might want to check work of Laboratory of Growth Regulators from Olomouc, they're doing pretty much such things
