Plant Genetics helpI'm aware of double fertilization and where 3n comes from
and how the 2 polar bodies fused with 1 sperm to form the cotyledon, but what is the genetic function or more vaguely biological function of the 3n speaking of chromosomes, is this the reason why plants are more successful with polyploidy? (4n, 3n, 9001n (its over 9000 if so what is the reason for it's success with polyploidy?
cotyledon? I don't think so. IMHO is the reason that 3n means more genetic basis to have speeder metabolism.But I'm just guessing.
Anyway, plants are little bit more flexible. Although we think we (and animals) are the kings, contra is the truth. PLants are much more plastic and able to adapt to current enviroment. http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
so the reason for polyploidy is adaptability
how tho, what does having extra chromosomes give u? and the 3n of the cotyledon or endosperm (fusion of sperm and 2 polar bodies) is to make the "food" of the seed grow faster?
