Skull identification

Postby pletka1 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 3:50 pm

Hello everyone,

I found this skull in Harper's Ferry, WV and have no clue about the animal. Can someone please help me? The first picture is the top view and the second picture is the side view. The width of the top of the skull is about the size of my hand when my fingers are spread out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my first idea, when I saw the top picture was some large snake :) Pretty cool ;)
but the teeth are some different.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

It's not a snake, when you look at it along what i assume to be the jaw it looks like "baleen" small filtering sort of fibrous structures that some whales use to filter small micro organisms out of the water such as krill, have ya got anymore pics of it? I think it is some sort of whale maybe? very interesting.

I doubt it could be a whale since it was found in WV but I thought the same thing about the teeth. Those are the only two pictures I have of the skull.
