advice to BaghdadDear Sirs,
im a 24 years old guy who holds a bach degree in Biology and i want to get the master degree so i want an advice concerning the specialization that i should study and what should be my major research??? i want something who has a future..let me make the picture more clear..as u know nowadays we in Iraq are kinda left behind..we stopped developing back at late eighties so imagine ur country back in the eighties and tell me what was the trend of studying??? the field that has more careers at.....but in another hand...dont think that Iraq is full of cave men or terrorists and theres no development at all..believe me when i tell you that you will be surprised with the potentials available here.. Thanx in advance
Hmmm, Molecular Genetics is great field, but you have to make sure that all the equipments and facilities are available there..
Best of luck "Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing"
Wernher Von Braun
no i dont want you to predict the future..i mean wha was the trend back in the 90's???
remember i live in Iraq so we are at least 20 years behind..plz this is urgent and i need it seriously
just because you're kind of retarded in science development, doesn't mean that you have to do the same as has been done lsewhere. Especially, because it is already done. 20 years ago, there was no molecular biology, today, we have already announced nonnatural life...
So, you should start with something, what you have tradition with, that will be easier. Or something, what would improve your local life (e.g. improved crops with patogen or drough resistance) http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re:
Which nonnatural life which you are talking about? Indeed, this nonnatural life came from natural life, and used natural materials as a raw and starting point for their production. Don't forget that. "Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing"
Wernher Von Braun
And that is only what we know in the public sector, which like to use the media to announce it grandly and significantly. . . .
ever wonder what the private sector is up to? (The public sector is probably 20 years behind the private one!). Always follow your passion. What do you love to do? What do you want to find out? What do you want to solve? Read articles via the Internet (research should be allowed to you), and find out what intrigues you. Narrow it down and then focus on how you want to find out the mystery (basic science), and perhaps how to apply it (technology). It works best if you find your passion and see where that leads you (you forming the mold around you), instead of you going into a field and trying to make an image of what you think you might be passionate about (you conforming to a mold).
Re:
Just look to the scientific media making small things as a big thing ! Dr Craig Venter rearranged the genes of the Bacteria making the same bacterial genome, and inserted that into the bacteria again, and the media said " He created life"! They don't know that creating things must come from nothing, while rearrangement of a thing needs a raw material which came from already existed thing.. So, that non-natural life which you meant came from the natural one! So, if you meant by non-natural life the same as they did by using the term " Creation of life ", then of course it changed the point. I really admit that is a big step in the science of biology, and it will bring a great revolution in the beneficial applications of life, but we should use the proper words to explain it. OK thanx Kolean...
others: when i asked for suggestions for things that happened in the previous 20 years and what was the trend back then because i wanna start from there..because i cant start from whats out there in the world..somebody has to set the base ground for modern biology science in Iraq and i like to think of my self as a mild revolt and a participant in the base ground composing...hope u understand my point...THANX AGAIN
hashem: you're right, it's better to do experiments, which are pretty old ( about17985.html ) or come up with never existing technology ( about18602.html ), right?
marwan: I understand your point, but as I said before, it's useless to repeat, what has been done already. You have right now lost 20 years, do not lose other 20 until you will reach the at-that-time current science! http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re:
I really don't feel sorrow when I hear that don't believe about what we are doing here. I have told you before, spreading technologies is limited to our regions. Never existing technology is here, come and see it, touch it, and use it. We dislike joke in sciences. "Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing"
