At the Experimental Biology conference in Anaheim, CA, many senior scientists, professors, graduate and undergraduate students had the opportunity to present their biomedical related research from April 23-28. More importantly, over more than one hundred University of Pittsburgh faculty members, postdocs and graduate students attended this conference to present and showcase their work in the biomedical related sciences.

Very interesting.
Am getting tired of scientists and doctors saying the word 'cure' though, when they actually mean treatment, which you will have to take to 'control' the symptoms of the disease. The disease is still there, you are just counteracting the effects by trying to produce enough of the functional protein that is being mutated somehow (point mutations that cause nonsense mutations) with this drug.
Clincal trials will mean that it doesn't have any deadly side effects and is able to provide treatment to the majority of people who try it. Doesn't tell you the other side effects of using this drug 5 or 10 years down the road (still, it will extend your life without sucumbing to the disease).
