Transcription unitHey guys, can I confirm that transcription unit includes only the 5' untranslated portion, 3' untranslated protion, the active gene sequence? And that it DOES NOT consists of the enhancer?
Secondly, for hormon peptide which does not participate directly in DNA replication; do we still consider them as an co-effector? Many thanks in advance.
if is the enhancer located upstream from the translation start, then it's not in the transcript. But I think, there can be some enhancer binding sites, which are located also downstream

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
It`s just not possible to give a Yes/No answer. I think most enhancers lie upstream of 5' UTR but there are also enhancers that lie within intronic regions (http://www.mbi.ufl.edu/~hnick/intronic%20enhancer.htm). Your prof should know this
