we have known the secondary structure in the 5-untranslated region of mRNA plays an important roles in controling the translation efficiency, but what are the roles of secondary structure in the coding regions of mRNA? they can slow down the elogation rate of nascent chains? if I want to slow down the elogation rate of nasent chains, how can I do?
can you tell me which team is studying the issue?

I'll speculate. If you can decrease the ratio of (charged aa-tRNA)/(empty tRNA) you should slow elongation due to the increased frequency of unproductive codon-anticodon collisions. I am assuming that the uncharged tRNAs would competitively inhibit loading of charged tRNAs. This could be as simple as starving the cells of energy, though decreasing amino acid nutrition might also be useful.

I'm guessing. I've not looked into the literature for proven methods or active groups.
