how to SAVE in fasta?Hi guys!
I have probably silly problem. I work on Join Genome institute software and I have my results in fasta format (i mean it looks like fasta) BUT I don't know how to save it in fasta format so I can open it in mega-they just don't have saving option. Any ideas?
My mentor told me in the beginning: "Just forget about what is Microsoft pushing you into, forget everything about the extensions."
This is just plain text, you can give it any extension you want - *.txt, *.fasta, *.fsa, *.fas, *.tab... whatever. I have one file ending with .friends (by the Tv series;) >your_ID whatever you want to have here SEQUENCEOFYOURPROTEINMOSTLIKELYWITH60 LETTERSPERLINE(ORMOREORLESS),BUTDEFINIT ELLYWITHOUTSPACES >ID2 description of your second sequence ANDHERESEQUENCEOFYOURSECONDPROTEINA GAINWITHTHESAMEFORMATING OK? So, just copy your sequences, put it into Notepad (not Word!!!) and put Save As and choose "All files" and into the name put "something.fasta" or .fsa or .fas, that doesn't matter so much, the format is important http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
