SDS-PAGE logMW plots anti-log?

Postby ash89 » Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:45 pm

i have been struggling to work out how i need to finish these calculations? how do i get the anti-log? :?

the standards from the SDS-PAGE have given me some molecular weights to do a graph, i have been told to plot logMW against distance run.

so i have calculated what the log MW's are eg/ 260kDa = 2.42 (logMW) and i have constructed the graph. giving me a slightly sigmoid shape.

so for example 2.42 was read off the graph for one of hte unknown bands how do i work out what the Mr is then is that just the anti-log and if so how do i do it? :?: :?: :?:

This is more about math than about biology, but never mind.

log 10^x = x
so, if log y = x, than y = 10^x

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

:D ok thanks.

but now i have what the anti-log is how do i go from molecular weight to relative molecular mass, because the protien data sheet only has this info and they are all between 14,300 - 80,000 range :?: :?: :?: :?
