Fantastic Tadpole nursery happening outsideHello Folks i ended up here seeking information about tadpoles and frogs in California and to excitedly share my story. This spring..in the water on top of a pool tARP ( large aREA ABOUT 7 INCHES OF RAINWATER ON TARP) i HAVE about 200 or so tadpoles. this is thrilling because we were avid listerners of the frog orgy that happened at night in January..in same tarp..we would watch them mating and making a loud racket. So to finally realize the eggs hatched and tadpoles are going through their metamorphosis right in a tarp in the sunshine... is just too much. I have investigated online pics of tadpoles and identification criteria and simply want to share with anyone who is interested. The parent frogs are small about the size of a silver dollar...so these tadpoles are small and our covered pool is their nursery. YEA!
