I am currently working on a report/project for my 9th grade Biology class. The topic of this project is "Animal Nutrition and Digestion." Although the title says animal digestion, almost all the required information needed to pass is about human digestive processes.
I have been searching the internet and my local library far and wide, but I cannot find the answers to some of the questions I need to answer for this project. I'm hoping this site can help me a little.
The first group of questions I cannot seem to answer is on protease enzymes. The specific question is what protease enzymes act on, and what products are formed by them. I cannot find what the products of protease are. I'm also doubtful about what protease acts upon. I do believe proteases act upon proteins, but I'm not completely sure. Do proteases act upon proteins?
The next few questions are about the human liver and pancreas. Specifically, what part in the digestion of fats do both the liver and pancreas play? It seems like a pretty easy question, but I cannot find anything about what the liver or pancreas does with fats. When I turn to the internet, I don't get any results that are even remotely helpful. When I turn to my library, I can't find any books that offer any more information than a basic overview of what a liver is.
Lastly, what is the equation for the digestion of fats? On my paper, there is question that looks like: fat + water --------(enzyme)---------> ________________________ + ______________________. ("______________" being blanks I need to fill in in order to complete the question).
If that makes no sense, think of it being similar to the equation for photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy -------> C6H12O6 + 6O2; however, it is for the digestion of fats.
I would really like some help. I'm really worrying about this project as it is worth enough points to bring my grade down significantly if not completed correctly. I would also appreciate if whoever decides to answer this explains the answers to my questions. Like, don't just tell me an answer, tell me why the answer is the answer, please.

I assume you're learning about hydrolysis and the components of food molecules, and that's what the reaction addresses.
And for digestive enzymes, they're often named after what they digest , and again, you get the basic absorbable components.
Actually, I'm not. I'm learning basic genetics (Gregor Mendel and his pea plants, punnett squares, etc.). We've never even mentioned hydrolysis. We were learning RNA functions when the teacher randomly assigned us this project on the animal digestion. That's what is making this tough; I don't know anything in-depth about the subject.
My issue with the digestive enzymes is that that it ("It" being the project paper) classifies them all as proteases. There is only one answer space available on my question paper. So all the proteases must have one nutrient that they all act upon, correct? It's asking for that one nutrient, not all the different ones that the different proteases act on.

EDIT/ADDITION: I think I got the fat digestion equation thing down. Fat + Water -----(Lipase)-------> fatty acids + glycogen. Can anybody confirm whether I'm right or wrong? Just say yes or no.
And yes, I am actually researching. I hope nobody thinks I'm relying on this website for answers (I read the forum's policy on Homework and what-not).

so yes, you're right with the lipase. So, what will protease work on? You're right with proteins (there can't be specific protease for each protein, not in the digestive system).
