About my Biochemistry Assignmenthi all, this is my 1st post here.
below is my Metabolic Biochemistry subject assignment title. "The Electron Transport Chain (ETC) and its relationship with all other metabolic pathways." Well, as you can see the scope is kinda broad... I'm thinking of dividing into different parts and mainly discuss about the ATP flow, like: 1. ETC and glycolysis, 2. ETC and control of glycogen metabolism 3. ETC and citric acid cycle 4. ETC and Urea cycle Please drop your comments and ideas Thank you very very much~
Hmmmm... How direct of relationships are we talking about here? How many steps removed from the ETC are you willing to go? Because, it seems to me that if you are being direct, then there isn't much to talk about except for electron donors (NADH and FADH2 in oxidative phosphorylation, H2O in photophosphorylation), electron recipients (O2 in oxidative phosphorylation, NADP+ in photophosphorylation), and of course ATP. (unless there are other ETCs that I am unaware of)
However, if you are being less direct, then it pretty much can encompass every single metabolic pathway in the cell. In which case, this chart may give you some indication of how quickly this will become complicated. "Empathise with stupidity, and you're halfway to thinking like an idiot." - Iain M. Banks
