Method to Memorize the Parts of Cells and Their FunctionsIs there a useful way to memorize the parts of cells and their fuctions? A mnemonic, song to sing, etc... Any help would be appreciated.
In my opinion, a picture or a schematic cross section of a cell is by far the best way to remember the cell components. Once you've studied the image well enough, you can easily form a mental picture of the cell and it's insides afterwards.
Is there a particular reason why it has to be a non-visual thing? If not, google a couple of images of cells and cellular organelles and memorize them. After all, there are not that many main components of a cell and they are quite easy to memorize.
And that is why I said 'in my opinion' and also asked if there was a specific reason for a verbal version.
Even if someone had a poor visual memory, a schematic view can definitely help to understand the big picture, and understanding something usually greatly increases the chances of remembering it. If you have a verbal list of all the organelles of a cell, well it only gets you so far :) Like, if you need to answer a question "what are the organelles inside a cell?" you might just pull it with a rhyming organelle-poem, but if you are asked "what are they and what they do?" then you should probably have a mental image to get the things right. Or have a really good organelle song... Of course the original poster may be teaching blind children, for example, in which case I unfortunately cannot help.
