Chicken..or the Egg?Hey guys
So ..my question basically is..which came first- the chicken or the egg..according to Lamark and Darwin? I'm thinking that Darwin would say the Egg- since the environment selects the change and Lamark would say the chicken because the environment may have caused the change in the bird that became a chicken? what are your thoughts? thanks!
Good question for me. I know that eggs (albeit a chicken egg) did not come about till organisms were able to carry the fertilized egg inside of them, which made it possible for them to go on land. But I can not say the answer of the chicken because feathers are a land-based modification of epidermal outgrowths. Mmmm........ so did the land-based modification of feathers (to be catagorized as a chicken/bird) come before organism's egg laying capibilities? Archaeopteryx was the beginning of feathers, correct? But dinosaurs were already egg layers. So I will say the egg came first.
Re: Chicken..or the Egg?
