What is this animal? - Photographed near Hana in MauiA friend was driving on the road to Hana (eastern most tip of Maui) and saw this animal on a side road during a stop. All my searches suggest a mongoose or a rat. I does not have the tail or legs of a mongoose and it was too big for a rat. Does anyone have any ideas of what this animal might be?
Thanks.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: What is this animal? - Photographed near Hana in MauiThe legs are too thin for a ferret. It also does not appear to have ears that stick up above the head. It does not look like is has shoulders. It is low to the ground and the head, body and tail are parallel to the ground when walking. It looks more like an Armadillo without the armor.
Re: What is this animal? - Photographed near Hana in MauiI think it looks like an indian mongoose (Herpestes javanicus) an alien species that got introduced to Maui as a pest-control by the government.
