Homework Question

Postby cornears » Tue Nov 17, 2009 4:19 pm

Hey guys could you help me answer this question? Thanks in advance :)

You are growing rapeseed (which normally has very few trichomes (hairs) on its leaves...called glabrous) and you notice a plant with very few pubescent leaves. You emasculate (remove the stamens) the pubescent plant and fertilize it with pollen from a normal, glabrous plant. All of the F1 progeny are glabrous . Assuming simple Mendelian inheritance, what are the expected phenotypic frequencies resulting from a monohybrid cross (F1 x F1)?

think about what had to happen. You have glaborous (imagine GG) and cross with non-glaborous and you get glaborous progeny only. So, what type of relatedness there must be? What genotypes probably have parents and what the offspring?

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
