DetoxificationGuys,as we know,detoxification is takes place in our liver,can u explain me how it works?and what are the enzyme take a part on this case?i hope u give me information from physiological point of view,thanx,

Basically, metabolism of xenobiotics has two phases
1) oxidation, usually done different CYPs 2) conjugation to different substances, this is done by some transferases both steps should lead to increased polarity and thus solubility in water (=blood=urine) http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/

The conjugation can take place with UDP-glucuronate, PAPS to form sulphate, alkylation by S-adenosylmethionine or acylation by acetyl-CoA, conjugation with amino acids (Gly, Gln) or with GSH etc.
