Can you identify this spider?

Postby stevem » Wed Oct 21, 2009 5:44 pm

Its body is 12-15mm long (not counting legs) and the mass on its back is approximately 10mm in length. I found it in New Hampshire, USA.

Many, many thanks.

Steve

Have you compared it to a Marbled Orb Weaver? They are often variable in size and coloration.

Thanks for the reply. It's similar to the Marbled. The Shamrock Orb Weaver, linked above, is almost identical, excepting for color and some marbling as you pointed out. It's harmless, thankfully.
