General Biology: Mitosis and Meiosis help?Having some major trouble figuring out this question:
In the orchid Vanilla phaeantha, a diploid cell in G1 contains an average 15 pg of DNA spread among 32 chromosomes. Please answer the following questions about this plant: A diploid cell in prophase should have a total of ____15___ pf of DNA, ___64____ chromatids, and ____32_____ chromosomes. A diploid cell that is in early mitotic anaphase should have ___15___ pg of DNA and ___32_____ chromosomes. A cell in early anaphase I should have ___15____ pg of DNA and ___32____ chromosomes. A cell in early anaphase II should have ___7.5___ pg of DNA and _______ chromosomes. As you should remember, plants have an alternation of generations. In angiosperm like this orchid the pollen grain is really a haploid plant with several nuclei. Each G1 nucleus should have ____7.5____ pg of DNA and ________ chromosomes. The egg nucleus should have ______ pg of DNA and _______ chromosomes. I filled in what I got so far...not sure if it's correct but based off what I read in the book that's what I came up with.
