Photos taken in rocky shore~Help!

Last week I have been to rocky shore for a field trip study and I took many photos. However, i am not able to identify one of the species. It just look like some carbon rods. Can somebody tell me numerous black rod-like structure is sponge, lichen or any other class? Please tell me the scientific name of the species if you know.Thank you for your kind help.
