Rennin and New born babies. What effect would the absence of rennin have on a newborn baby? Name the disease it will be likely to suffer from and why.
So, far I only know that rennin is made in the stomach and is used to clot milk. My research isn't giving me much either. So can anyone help me?
I don't know if there's a gaping hole in my knowledge of biology, but I always thought humans do not produce rennin. Or are we talking about animals now? Some animals, such as the cow, produce it - rennin used to be extracted from the stomach of the calves for commercial use as far as I know. In humans, pepsin performs the same function, i.e. coagulates milk proteins.
You sure you got the name right? Humans produce renin that is secreted (as the name suggests) by the kidneys and has a role in the renin-angiotensin system.
